That's true, but on a Mid-2010 non-Retina 15" MacBook Pro, not only do the screen fonts look a little sub-par, but the graphics are nowhere near as smooth and fluid as Mavericks. There is a lot of talk about how the Yosemite look and feel is more like iOS. Office 2011 works fine - no dramas there at all.

The other notable one is VMware Fusion 5, but I'm going to crossgrade to Parallels as I'm sick of paying the Fusion Upgrade Tax every time there is a new release. But more and more of my Citrix customers are moving to non-VPN access anyway. A few apps don't work - my Citrix Access Gateway VPN client is the biggest pain point, as I now must run published Citrix apps rather than native apps through a VPN. I must say overall I am underwhelmed, but almost in a good way. iCould Drive does sound useful, but not sure just how good it will be compared to those vendors already offering enterprise-grade solutions. It did prompt me to upgrade my iCloud Documents and Data to iCloud Drive, but I declined - my iOS devices are still on iOS 7. I was surprised there was very little in the way of tours or walkthroughs of new features. No glitches, no hiccups - it motored along with the same smoothness you'd expect of an OS X upgrade.

The process was simple - a promo code for the Mac App Store. Perhaps it was a trust that Apple wouldn't release something unstable to the broader public.Īnyway, I took the deep dive and downloaded the 5.3GB installer. Perhaps it was my inner geek - who used to regularly run beta versions of Microsoft operating systems, back in the day - resurfacing. The screen shots and features looked enticing. I have to say I was a little bit excited when I received the invite from Apple to join the Yosemite beta program.
